The Beginning
The Problem We Knew Firsthand
Our founders spent years in residential interior design and architectural practice. On every project, they saw the pattern: the creative brief took a day, while sourcing took a week. One client revision could erase two days of supplier research. When a material went out of stock, the process had to start again from scratch.
Sourcing tools for designers had stayed the same for a decade: spreadsheets, bookmark folders, and calls with vendor representatives. Creative work had advanced, but procurement remained manual.
MattoSpace was founded in New York in 2023 to bridge that gap. We created the tool we wanted when specifying finishes and flooring for residential clients.
Our Team
Who Builds MattoSpace
Guy Adam Ailion
CEO and Co-founder
Guy spent years managing residential interior design projects where sourcing was the main slowdown. He understands which questions a client brief leaves open, why some material substitutions fail on installation day, and which supplier data gaps can cost a designer a week. He co-founded MattoSpace to create the tool he could not find, and now guides product strategy and customer relationships.
Seren Okafor
Head of Design Intelligence
Seren leads MattoSpace's palette generation system and material knowledge layer supporting sourcing recommendations. Her background is in architectural materials research, including work with a multi-disciplinary design consultancy before joining the founding team. She directs how the platform learns from designer feedback.
Dmitri Vasic
CTO and Co-founder
Dmitri heads engineering and infrastructure. Before MattoSpace, he created data pipelines and search systems at a mid-size software company serving the construction industry. He oversees the sourcing database, export engine, and API layer used by Bespoke integration partners.
